    The Summer White Party

To our valued sponsors, patrons and friends,

I am writing to officially notify you our annual Summer White Party originally scheduled for July 18, 2020, has unfortunately been canceled. I’m sure this has not come as a surprise to most of you, although I assume that, like me, it is received with much regret.

Not only has this annual event become “the party of the season” for our wide range of friends and supporters, but it is also one of our two major fundraisers for the year (at this time, no decision has been made about the second one — our annual JMFF Golf Tournament and Black & Tan Celebration — scheduled for Oct. 3, 2020).

This global health crisis has touched every aspect of our lives. My heartfelt wish is that you and your family are safe and healthy. Your physical well-being is of paramount importance. There is no question the stress and strain of business lockdowns, social distancing, home-schooling, family separations, unemployment and — for some — food insecurity have challenged our emotional well-being. But the outpouring of love and support that is all around us, particularly from the music, arts and entertainment industries, has been healing and uplifting.

Our 2020 Season is still in lockdown — like the rest of us — but we are monitoring all pertinent communications from our state and local governments, as well as the healthcare community, on a daily basis and are responding accordingly. We are eager to get back to doing what we do best but have to keep the “pause” button on a little longer until we get more concrete direction from our elected officials.

In the meantime, I hope you are following our efforts online as we continue fulfilling our purpose through programs like “The Stage is Yours!”(showcasing local musical talent to our 30,000+ social media followers) and “Weekly Dose of the Arts” (grade-appropriate arts activities to supplement homeschooling curriculums). And a new initiative “Creating Whimsical Masterpieces at Home with John Donato,” virtual art lessons for kids using materials they can find at home.

We are confident the arts will prevail, and our organization is planning to continue our Arts Access programs in schools and communities this fall. These initiatives are completely supported through donations. If you had planned to attend the Summer White Party but had not yet purchased tickets, please consider making a contribution to our organization so we can continue our mission of providing arts access for all, and creating opportunities to elevate the human spirit.

Please stay tuned for additional communication about all of the programs of The Freeman Stage. And on behalf of the entire organization, thank you for your continued support and be well!

With gratitude,

Patti Grimes
